Robert Fife


Robert is a dispute resolution partner and leads the Commercial Litigation team. He has over 30 years experience in all aspects of commercial litigation including contractual disputes and liability insurance litigation.
He has ongoing commercial and general litigation cases in various Sheriff Courts and the Court of Session, and has experience of proceedings before the House of Lords. He regularly advises clients on the interpretation of contract terms. Increasingly, Robert is asked to review contracts before the contracts are finalised. The caseload covers a broad range of cases including breach of contract, general contractual disputes, debt recovery, declarators, IP disputes, interdicts, defamation, misrepresentation, judicial review and professional negligence. He has experience in alternative dispute resolution including mediation and arbitration.
Robert is an accredited commercial disputes mediator and is qualified as a solicitor advocate. He has a special interest in health & safety law including representation of clients at HSE prosecutions and is an external legal adviser to the Health & Safety Executive.
He has a judicial appointment as a part-time Sheriff (covering all Sheriff Courts throughout Scotland) and is part-time chairman of the Appeal Committee of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland.
Robert regularly speaks at internal and external seminars/workshops on all aspects of commercial dispute resolution, health and safety law, court procedure and practice.
