John is a Partner in our Private Client department.
John is widely recognised as a leader in his field and has a wealth of knowledge and experience across the range of private client matters. He joined us directly from Tods Murray LLP where he was head of Rural Property and Business. He has over 30 years experience advising high profile private clients and businesses towards achieving their strategic objectives.
John's business includes trust administration, agricultural and rural property law and the development and management of client relations within both the domestic and international markets. The latter includes private investors and companies seeking to both invest in property or to engage in corporate activity in the UK.
John has advised a number of companies throughout the UK, including charities, a major Government agency and owner managed businesses. He has also developed businesses overseas in Hong Kong, Singapore and China. John has built excellent working relationships with companies and individuals in all these countries and has established a presence and business there.
John is a member of the Agricultural Law Association, a past Treasurer of the Society of Writers to Her Majesty's Signet and the founding Trustee of the Clark Foundation for Legal Education. He is a Chapter Author of 'The Asian Buyers Guide to UK Property' and has delivered seminars and written articles for a range of audiences and publications internationally on topics including the Law of Succession to Agricultural Holdings in Scotland, taxation breaks for forestry in the UK, and listing on AIM in China.
