Catriona Watt
Catriona is a senior associate in our Public, Regulatory and Healthcare team within the Dispute Resolution department.
She is a recognised specialist in the field of Health and Social Care Law and is described as a "leader in her field" by the Legal 500. Catriona has also been recognised by Chambers and Partners UK as a 'leader in their field' in Healthcare (Scotland) and Clinical Negligence (mainly pursuer). Catriona combines a civil court and public body practice to give public, regulatory and healthcare clients specialist expertise in judicial review, appeals to the Court of Session, appearances before professional disciplinary panels and tribunals and in all aspects of Healthcare Law.
Catriona is a member of the Association of Regulatory and Disciplinary Lawyers. She advises our professional regulatory clients on a range of important issues including registration, regulation and professional disciplinary hearings.
She also regularly provides detailed advice on statutory interpretation for our public body clients, particularly in the field of health and social care and advises them on the protection of vulnerable groups human rights, judicial review and appeals. She is able to interpret complex legislation in a clear and understandable way for our clients.
In her healthcare practice, Catriona deals with high value and significant clinical negligence claims. She has considerable experience of complex and sensitive cases.
She appears at Fatal Accident Inquiries with particular experience in medical inquiries.
Prior to qualifying as a lawyer, Catriona was a journalist and her career spanned newspapers, radio and the BBC television news and current affairs.
